1. BIG FIELD, BIG CRASH – South Boston Speedway

    November 3, 2009 by Winstead

The race started with the #99 Commonwealth Environmental Associates car of A.J. Winstead started from the pole position with a new South Boston track record. Eldon Zacek of Mooresville, NC in the Uni-Jig Dodge started second. The front two ran away from the rest of the field just as they started until lap 35 when while trying to lap the #9 of Tony Ingraham, Zacek was able to slip by Winstead.
The caution flag flew at lap 49 for a lapped car who spun off of turn two. During the ensuing restart on lap 50 leaders Eldon Zacek and Winstead collected themselves, along with Rusty Wood (who was running 4th at the time) into turn 1 on a restart. Scarbrough, who was third at the time, inherited the lead, and managed to hold off a late charge by Alan Purser for the win.
