The Winstead Motorsports team tried their hand at the famous 42nd Annual Snowball Derby in Pensacola, FL. Just making the field is a big accomplishment as there were 50 cars attempting to qualify for the 32 starting positions. The Commonwealth Environmental Associates and SCP sponsored #99 car locked into the top 30 with a 27th place qualifying run. Being the only car in the field with a 2BBL carburetor, A.J. was able to race his way up to the 17th place by the 10th lap. Unfortunately, something in the motor gave up and the 99 team was forced to call it quits only after 11 laps.
Mark Chrudimsky won the rain-shortened Modified feature when the race was called after 36 of the 50 laps because of rain. Chrudimsky took the lead for good on Lap 30 when he went low in Turn 4 and used a lap car to pass Brian Nester. Bubba Gale then passed Nester for second four laps later. The rains then started two laps later. Nester started on the outside pole and led the first lap until Chrudimsky passed him on a restart. Nester retook the lead on Lap 13 and held it for the next 17 laps.
