5/1: NEWTON, NC — For Joe Scarbrough, the time leading up to the 2nd race of the year at the Hickory Motor Speedway was already special for a driver who had never competed on the venerable track surface. Saturday, the experience was doubled as Joe took the #93 car and not only won the pole, but lead ALL 75 laps, including the most important one, the last lap; giving Joe and the rest of the Aftershock Motorsports racing team their first win of the season. Joe was followed by the #99 SCP, CEA sponcored car of A.J. Winstead.
The celebration for these two can only be for so long though, the team has to get ready for a quick turnaround next weekend when the Rolling Thunder Modifieds visit another popular track in Orange County Speedway.

After the first caution of the day, caused by debris, was thrown in the last ten laps of the feature race at Orange County Speedway Saturday night, the scene quickly became one similar to three Navy fighter jets in close formation right before a strike!
The pilots….Cale Gale – 83, AJ Winstead – 99 and Joe Scarbrough – 93 took flight and struck early and often in the waning laps. With the trio three taking up about two car lengths, the dog fight was on and in the end it was Cale Gale edging out AJ Winstead by 0.121 to take the victory.
Here’s how Cale, AJ, Joe and the remainder of the squadron fared:
